Manifesto

We made the marketplace
we wished existed.

I.

The race to the bottom is over.

Freelance marketplaces taught a generation of creatives to compete on price, race to the bottom, and treat their work like a commodity. Five-dollar logos. Ten-dollar landing pages. Whole websites in 24 hours. The platforms profited; the talent burned out; the work got worse.

We watched the brands we admired keep their good work in-house or behind agency walls — because there was nowhere else to find the people who could make it. That's the gap AE Studio fills.

We are building the marketplace where the best independents meet the most ambitious brands — under terms that respect the craft, the time, and the dignity of both sides of the transaction.

II.

Curated, not crowded.

Most marketplaces optimize for scale. We optimize for taste. AE Studio verifies every talent by hand — and we say no to 96% of applicants. Our talent base is intentionally small. Curated like a magazine, not populated like a phone book.

We match — we don't post. Briefs are routed by humans + AI to three hand-picked specialists. No public bidding, no race to the inbox, no firehose of unqualified pitches.

We charge less because we don't have to subsidize bad matches. Our service fees — 12% from sellers, 4% from buyers — are half what some platforms take, because we don't have scaled-out customer support, fraud teams, and dispute arbitration to fund.

III.

Who AE Studio is for.

If you're a buyer —

  • You ship work that ends up in case studies and award decks.
  • You can't tell the difference between a template and a system.
  • You'd rather pay for taste than for hours.
  • You read briefs as carefully as you write them.

If you're talent —

  • You've been independent for at least five years.
  • Your portfolio is the case for your judgment.
  • You decline more work than you accept.
  • You think in systems, not screenshots.
IV.

Things we'll never do.

01

Sell premium placement to whoever pays most.

02

Allow under-$500 projects to dilute the marketplace.

03

Use AI to replace the talent. We use it to surface them.

04

Pretend to be neutral when we're not.

05

Hide fees, surprise charges, or upsell on technicalities.

06

Take ownership of work that isn't ours.

07

Outsource trust to a chatbot.

V.

The promise.

If you're a brand, your brief gets answered by people whose work you'd hang on a wall.

If you're talent, your craft gets paid for, your IP stays yours, your name appears on the work, and your reputation compounds.

AE Studio exists for the work that's worth remembering.
